I have downloaded the free version of OpenAudible before, OpenAudible version 1.0. Although it was used to be the free Audible Converter, it isn't any more. It doesn’t work with Audiobooks with DRM (Apple Books or Audible) but does work well with MP3, M4A, and M4B files. OpenAudible is a cross-platform audiobook converter designed for Audible books on Windows, Mac and Linux. If you use Plex, and love Audiobooks, you’ll love Prologue. The developer has a tip jar to support continued development, and I frequently use it whenever new updates come out. You can download the purchased audiobooks from to your Mac. ![]() It’s a fantastic app, and it’s well worth the download. all the other software will charge you or limit you if you dont buy. Prologue is a free download on the App Store, and there is a one time $5 in-app purchase to unlock offline downloads and the collections features I mentioned earlier. It also supports voice boost (similar to Overcast), variable playback speeds, sleep timer, bookmarks, and Siri support. It has a great CarPlay version, so it’s perfect for listening to books in the car. If you build “collections” in Plex (think: Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, etc.), they will show up as Collections in the app. Playback progress syncs over iCloud to listen on your iPhone and your iPad without losing your spot. Instead of having to load your books manually, you sign in to your Plex server, and all of your books are available to stream or download offline. Once that is all set up, the Prologue app becomes the best audiobook app on the App Store. There is a step-by-step guide for configuring it on the Plex Forums. You can convert your AAX files into MP3 individually or convert all of them at once. You can then use OpenAudible to convert your audiobooks into another audio format to use in any media player. While Plex doesn’t support it out of the box, it’s a pretty straight forward process to add a section of your library for books. Once you install it, you can connect your Audible account to OpenAudible, and the app will automatically load all of your purchased audiobooks. This easy-to-use desktop application gathers all your Audible books in one location for convenient access. It is an audiobook content manager that automatically organize your books as an HTML library. Once I discovered it was possible to put these files into Plex, it became an audiobook dream setup for me. From there, you can click on a download link to have OpenAudible download your book.When I moved in 2013, I decided I was done with physical media for TV shows and movies and ripping all of my DVDs into digital format. You will then be able to browse all the books you have purchased from Audible. All your library details are then imported. You may want to set the working directory or output directory to a disk that has more space or that is located on a network storage device - then connect to audible. To use OpenAudible, open the Browser window (Ctrl-B from the Controls menu) and log into your Audible account and browse to your list of purchased books. Best of all you can view all your Audible books in one location and automatically organize your books as an HTML library.
